Frank Zappa a 20. század egyik meghatározó, extravagáns amerikai művésze - zeneszerző, gitáros, producer és filmrendező. A csaknem három évtizedet átfogó pályafutása alatt írt rockzenei, jazz-, elektronikus zenei, nagyzenekari munkákat; életében mintegy 60 nagylemeze jelent meg (1993-ban bekövetkezett halála után is több mint húsz) a Mothers of Invention együttessel vagy saját neve alatt. Egyedi gitárjátékával és senkivel össze nem téveszthető színpadi jelenlétével számtalan zenészt inspirált, a rocktörténet egyik emblematikus alakja, aki természetesen a Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame-nek is tagja.
